Info

Client: Council of Santiago de Compostela
Work: Design and painting of a mural
Year: 2008

In 2008 the Council of Santiago de Compostela was awarded the European prize of architecture  "Philippe Rotthier" for the urban development affecting the city expansion to the Fontiñas residential area. The prize honours the urban model designed for the area, a model that implies an ordered growth of the city with quality building and architectonical standards.

To commemorate the prize, the Council of Santiago asked us to paint a mural which would speak of the neighbourhood, of its good urban planning as wells as of its social and cultural diversity.

The mural was to be painted on the outer wall of the Fontiñas Secondary School building. Therefore, the mural would be directly addressed to young girls and boys between 11 and 17 years of age. The Council asked us to take this fact into account so we designed a composition with a marked comic aesthetics where various characters of different ethnic groups and ages lived happily together in harmony in an environment with green and leisure areas.

Technique: spray on wall.
