Festa do Queixo
Client: Announcing poster contest (Festival of farmhouse cheese of Arzúa, Galicia)
Work: Promotional poster design
Year: 2012
The festival of the farmhouse Cheese of Arzúa is obligatory for lovers of good farmhouse cheese, good food, and good music. Every year, there is also a poster contest. The winner becomes the announcing poster for the festival of the following year. This year we made up our mind to present a proposal and this is the result:
The concept of the poster refers to that moment when everybody gathers to party, to see each other, to share the cheese, the wine, the bread, the moment, the feast.
In order to express this idea, we designed the text of the poster with the Arzúa cheese itself, carving each letter in a craftwork manner and placing them with their on toothpick on a wooden board. Thus, the image of the poster resembles a side-dish of cheese served in any restaurant or bar. The wooden board transmits that idea of get-together, encouraging the public to have a piece of cheese, a piece of the festival. In order for the image to look more real, we used wooden toothpicks to create a "37ª" text and we designed a hand-written carving typography for the text at the bottom of the poster “March, 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2012”. In this way, the composition is endowed with formal coherence: all the graphic elements are built taking everyday objects or products as reference. This fact reinforces the visual realism and the closeness we wanted to transmit to the public.
We regret to inform that we didn’t win the contest. Perhaps, on another occasion.
